Meet Case #123
How one distressed duck moves through RescueAtlas, start to finish.
-
A member of the public spots a duck tangled in fishing line in a creek and submits the report form with a pin and a photo. Ten minutes later a second reporter is merged into the same case.
-
Dispatch sees a rescuer with boat skill, an available driver, and an intake home open right now — the wildlife hospital is closed on Sunday. Weather at the scene: clear.
-
The rescuer captures the duck and adds on-scene photos; the driver transports while the intake carer watches the live ETA. Crate and blankets ready, five minutes out.
-
Intake: arrival photo, condition, weight, a short video of odd behaviour. Time and kilometres flow to the driver's volunteer totals; a QR label prints for the crate.
-
The reporter gets a message: "The duck you reported is safe and in care." Daily logs and a feeding schedule keep the recovery on track.
-
Released with photos. Outcome: Released. The reporter gets the happy ending and a gentle donate link. The director's dashboard: 1 intake→release, 3.5 volunteer hours, 62 km — feeding the annual report.
